Equivalent Ratios Calculator
Generate equivalent ratios from a two-part ratio, or check whether another ratio represents the same relationship.
Generate equivalent ratios
Enter a two-part ratio. The calculator simplifies it first, then generates multiples.
Simplest form
Equivalent ratiosWorking: Multiply both parts of the simplified ratio by the same number.
Check another ratio
Rule: multiply or divide both parts of a ratio by the same non-zero number. For 3:5, examples include 6:10, 9:15 and 12:20.
How to check equivalent ratios
For a:b and c:d, compare the cross products a × d and b × c. If they are equal, the ratios are equivalent.
Example
3:5 and 12:20 are equivalent because 3 × 20 = 60 and 5 × 12 = 60.

Equivalent ratios FAQs
What are equivalent ratios?
Equivalent ratios describe the same relationship even when the numbers are different.
How do I make an equivalent ratio?
Multiply or divide both parts by the same non-zero number.
How do I check two ratios?
Cross multiply. If a × d equals b × c, then a:b and c:d are equivalent.
